Feather in Her Cap Adds Dr. Judy Jarecki-Black to Board of Directors
Feather In Her Cap Association announced the appointment of Dr. Judy-Jarecki Black, an accomplished researcher and patent attorney in the animal health industry, to its Board of Directors.
“We are thrilled to welcome Judy to the Board of Directors,” said Feather in Her Cap President Julia Stephanus. “As an experienced attorney, highly respected researcher and proven executive in the animal health industry, Judy brings a unique combination of skills and perspectives to our Board. Her experience and insights will be valuable as we continue to grow our organization and support the accomplishments of women in animal health.”
Dr. Jarecki-Black was the 2022 winner of the Feather in Her Cap Award.
She is an advocate and pro bono defender of women and a supporter and caretaker of animals that need shelter and compassion. Dr. Jarecki-Black earned her law degree from Georgia State University and is licensed in Georgia and South Carolina. She earned a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Pathobiology and medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine and College of Graduate Studies. She is the author of twenty-four publications and inventor on three patents. Currently she is the Senior Counsel at Smith, Gambrell and Russell LLP and previously she was the Global Head, Patent Prosecution and Patent Litigation, Animal Health at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health. Dr. Jarecki-Black is known for developing the first canine recombinant Lyme vaccine in her laboratory.
On her appointment to the Feather in Her Cap Board, Judy says, “It is such a pleasure to work with a group that recognizes and mentors women in the Animal Health industry, and those who support women, and such an honor to be asked to serve on the Board of Feather in her Cap. I look forward to continuing to make a difference in an industry we all love.”

Feather in Her Cap will continue to highlight the achievements of these women throughout the year.
About Feather in Her Cap Award
The award was established in 2017 by a group of women leaders in the animal health industry who formed the non-profit Feather in Her Cap Association, Inc., to honor women who have made outstanding contributions in animal health through scientific, industrial or commercial excellence and by demonstrating commitment to mentoring women. It hosts an annual event to present the award and honor the nominees. The 2023 Feather in Her Cap Award event will be held in Orlando on January 16, 2023.
